Challenge

OCS was approached by a long-term client about an opportunity to speak with a group of senior leaders and advise them on what they need to know about talent acquisition, management, and retention. OCS offered to conduct a presentation with insight into best practices for recruitment and the current labour.

Approach

OCS proposed a 1.5-hour in-person presentation, led by Antoinette King, which was delivered to 10 members of a CEO group in late 2023. The presentation covered key areas such as preparation for the hiring process, effective resource allocation, employer branding, recruitment trends, managing a multi-generational workforce, and innovative retention strategies. The session fostered open discussion, encouraging attendees to share their own experiences, successes, and challenges while exploring talent management solutions.

Drawing on its deep expertise and ongoing labor market research, OCS highlighted best practices and strategies tailored to the current competitive landscape. This included showcasing what other companies were doing to overcome similar hiring and retention issues, along with providing practical solutions that could be implemented immediately.

Outcome

The presentation not only equipped the participants with valuable knowledge and strategic insights but also boosted their confidence in existing practices where applicable. Those who already had talent management initiatives in place received positive reinforcement, while others walked away with a clearer understanding of actionable steps they could take to address their talent challenges. The session helped CEOs navigate complex labor market dynamics and allowed them to connect.
